16th Annual Good Samaritan Awards Dinner

The Annual Good Samaritan Awards Dinner serves as our major fundraising event of the year.  The awards are given to individuals in our community who exemplify the spirit of the biblical Good Samaritan in their everyday lives.  That is, someone who has demonstrated a desire to help others without any expectation of reward or recognition for their actions.

The 16^th Annual Good Samaritan Awards Dinner will be held Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Renaissance Resort Hotel at World Golf Village.  Included in the evening's festivities will be a Silent and Live Auction, with the opportunity to bid on a range of exciting items!

We are proud to announce the Good Samaritan honorees for 2010 are:

     Adopt-A-Family  

Help make the holidays brighter for those in need by adopting a family through Catholic Charities this year!

You tell us how large or small a family you want to “adopt.”  We will match you up with a family of that size, and then all you have to do is buy presents for the children in your “adopted” family (gifts for adults are optional).  You may also provide food or gift cards for the family’s holiday meal if you wish. 

We will give you all the relevant information you need, such as the ages and clothing sizes of all the children in the family. We even get a "wish list" from each child of the things they are hoping that Santa will bring them this year.  For younger children, new toys, games and stuffed animals are sure to bring a smile on Christmas morning, while for teenagers, gift cards to stores like Target and Wal-Mart make great gifts. 

Catholic Charities helps hundreds of local families during the holidays each year through the Adopt-A-Family program. But its success would not be possible without the support of caring and compassionate people right here in our community – people just like you.  Please consider sharing a little of your time and generous spirit this year to give a special Christmas to children in need who otherwise may not have one at all. 

     Grocery Gift Cards  

Each year, Catholic Charities provides hundreds of needy families in our local community with dinners for Thanksgiving and Christmas - everything but turkeys or hams.  This is where you come in - by donating $10 gift cards from local grocery stores so that our families can purchase the meat of their choice to go with their holiday meal.  Please mail your gift cards (or checks for purchase of gift cards) to:  Catholic Charities Bureau, Christmas / Thanksgiving Meal, PO Box 543, St. Augustine, FL 32085
