HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE

PROVIDING LOCAL FAMILIES WITH DONATED
GIFTS TO CELEBRATE THE SEASON

Catholic Charities St. Augustine partners with several local organizations to facilitate our Holiday Assistance program: Hope for the Holidays. Each year, we work together to gather toys for local children who otherwise would not have gifts to open for the holidays. We collect and distribute hundreds of these gifts to families in need each year.

Our team opens up applications in the fall for families facing hardship to apply to become a recipient of our Holiday Assistance program. Applications typically open in October and are first come, first served. To apply, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must have children living in your home.

  • You must include the following documents in your applications:

    • Proof of county residency*, such as a current electric/water/cable bill

    • Vehicle registration

    • Lease agreement and/or mortgage documentation

    • Original social security cards for parent(s) and children

    • Original birth certificate for all children in home

    • Photo ID

    • List of gift ideas for all family members prepared before arrival

*The program is open to Flagler, Putnam and St. Johns County. Clients must apply through their own county: Flagler County residents must register at St. Vincent De Paul Church, Putnam County residents must register through our Palatka office, and St. Johns County residents must register through Catholic Charities St. Augustine. Please contact us with any questions regarding applications.

Applications are closed until October 3, 2023.

A STORY OF HOPE: MARGIE

Margie* is a mother to three young children. While struggling to keep up with bills after losing her job from COVID-19, she wanted to provide a joyful Christmas for her children. With the help of the community, Catholic Charities St. Augustine was able to assist Margie by providing toys and bicycles for Margie’s children. They were overjoyed at the generosity of donors and were able to enjoy Christmas together as a family, while gaining financial stability.
