OUR HISTORY
LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR STORY OF FAITH AND SERVICE
Catholic Charities St. Augustine is one of four regional offices operated by Catholic Charities Bureau, Inc., which was incorporated in January of 1945. The Bureau’s roots go back to the late 1800s and the St. Mary’s Home, Florida’s first child-care institution, where we provided a safe and loving home for thousands of orphaned and abandoned children over the years.
While Catholic Charities began as a child welfare, foster care and adoption agency, we have continually sought to respond to the needs of the community. Our offices have grown into critical services such as pregnancy support, family counseling, alcohol and substance abuse counseling, pastoral services for those in prison, drop-in services for seafarers in port, religious education for children at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, disaster relief, and more.
