VOLUNTEER

GIVE YOUR TIME AND MAKE A LASTING IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY

Our volunteers are the driving force behind all we do. If you are able, we encourage you to give the gift of your time and talents to further our vitally important mission.

Ways to Volunteer:

Front Desk- Our Front Desk Greeters are responsible for answering the main office phone and directing client phone calls to the correct extension, or occasionally to another agency that is better able to assist with their specific needs. This volunteer also greets every person that walks through our front door with a smile and helps them receive the aid they are looking for.

Food Pantry- Our Food Pantry volunteers help us with essential duties throughout the week. Depending on the need of the week, volunteers help stock the shelves, sort through food donations, pack client food bags, and distribute food to clients.

Thrift Store- Our Thrift Store Associates assist customers in finding and purchasing items from the Catholic Charities Thrift Store, located next to our main office (525 State Road 16, Suite 111, St. Augustine, Florida 32084). Our Associates also assist in the sorting and tagging of new donations that come into the store.

Compassion-To-Go Senior Program- Our Compassion-To-Go volunteers deliver food to seniors in need on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Volunteers who "adopt" a senior are also expected to spend time visiting with the client if they would like to engage in conversation.

Development- For those interested in assisting us with fundraisers, public social events, and other development-related projects, contact Elisa Bennett at ebennett@ccbstaug.org. We are always looking for helping hands and special skills- like photographers, carpenters, and decorators.

Truck Loading- Our trusty Truck-Loaders come to the Catholic Charities Food Pantry the day before rural distributions to load the pre-packed bags of food into the agency's box truck. This volunteer should be comfortable picking up 25 lbs. from the floor and working for roughly 30 minutes outside.

Rural Outreach Delivery Drivers- Our Rural Outreach Delivery volunteers drive the agency box truck from our St. Augustine Regional Office to various rural outreach locations in St. Johns, Putnam, and Flagler counties. Once at the location, volunteers distribute the food as needed before returning to the office. These volunteers must be comfortable driving a large box truck for more than one hour at a time and be able to get in and out of the back of a box truck (4 feet off the ground).
